Sharing buildings across your Network is a great way to collaborate with Suppliers on maintenance operations. However, there is one important limitation to keep in mind: once a building has been shared with a Supplier, it isn't possible to stop sharing it individually. The only way to fully remove that access is by breaking the Network connection between both accounts.
This article explains how building sharing works within a Network, what happens if you no longer wish to share a specific building, and what to do if you need to break the connection entirely.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Administrator permissions to manage Network connections and shared buildings
- A clear identification of the Supplier and building(s) involved
- Alignment with the Supplier, if applicable, before breaking any Network connection
How building sharing works
- When you share a building with a Supplier through your Network, that Supplier gains access to it for the purposes of collaboration (for example, receiving Work Orders related to that building).
- The sharing is set up at the moment the Network connection is established and remains active while that connection exists.
- Multiple buildings can be shared with the same Supplier, depending on the scope of your collaboration.
Tip: Before sharing a building, make sure you only include the Suppliers who genuinely need access to it. This keeps your Network tidy and avoids the situation described below.
It's not possible to stop sharing a specific building
- Once a building has been shared with a Supplier, it isn't possible to remove that individual building from the sharing list.
- The only way to fully stop sharing a building is by breaking the entire Network connection between your account and that Supplier.
- This is a current limitation of the platform, so it's important to plan your sharing choices carefully from the start.
Tip: If you're unsure whether to share a building with a specific Supplier, it's safer to hold off until the scope of the collaboration is fully defined.
What happens if the Network connection is broken
- When the Network connection is broken, the Supplier will no longer have active access to your buildings.
- However, the buildings will still show up on the Supplier's account for history reasons, so previous records remain traceable.
- The key difference is that the Supplier will no longer be able to select those buildings when opening a Work Order or performing any new action.
How to request the Network connection to be broken
- If you'd like to stop sharing buildings entirely with a specific Supplier, the Network connection needs to be broken.
- To do so, please contact the Infraspeak Customer Care team by replying to your usual support email or opening a new request.
- Our team will then proceed with breaking the connection on your behalf.
