The language of your Infraspeak Direct portal is defined automatically by your web browser's language settings, rather than by a specific setting inside your Infraspeak profile. The system is designed this way because a single user contact can be associated with multiple entities across the platform, making the browser preference the most reliable reference point.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Access to the web browser you use to open Infraspeak Direct (for example, Google Chrome, Safari, or Edge)
  • Permission to change the browser's language settings on your device
  • The Infraspeak Direct portal ready to be refreshed after the change

How the portal language is defined

  1. Infraspeak Direct doesn't have an independent language selector within the user profile.
  2. Instead, it automatically follows the primary display language configured in your web browser.
  3. Once your browser is restarted, Infraspeak Direct will already be displayed in your chosen language.

Tip: If you use more than one browser, remember that each one has its own language settings, so the portal may appear in different languages depending on where you open it.


How to change the language in Google Chrome

On Windows computers, you can configure Chrome to display all menus and settings in your preferred language.

  1. On your Windows computer, open Chrome.
  2. In the top right, select More (⋮) > Settings.
  3. On the left, select Languages.
  4. Under "Preferred languages", next to the language you want to use, select More (⋮).
    • If the language isn't listed, add it by clicking Add languages.
  5. Select Display Google Chrome in this language.
    • This option is only available on Windows computers.
  6. Restart Chrome to apply the changes.

Tip: A few important notes to keep in mind:

  • Chromebook: to add or remove web content languages on your Chromebook, please refer to Google's guide on managing Chromebook languages.
  • Mac or Linux: Chrome automatically displays in the default system language of your Mac or Linux.

A note on email notifications

  1. While your browser controls the language of the portal itself, the automatic email notifications you receive will still be sent in the default language of the entity you are interacting with.
  2. This means that even if you set your browser to a specific language, the notification emails may arrive in a different one, depending on how the entity is configured.
  3. This is expected behaviour and helps keep communication consistent across all contacts associated with the same entity.


Once your browser is set to your preferred language and restarted, Infraspeak Direct will automatically follow that choice every time you open the portal, without any additional configuration on your side. Keeping in mind that email notifications follow the entity's default language will also help you avoid surprises when receiving updates. If you ever wish to switch back, simply adjust your browser's language settings again and refresh the portal.
