This article will teach you how to enable and configure the 2-Step Verification (2SV).

1. How to Enable and Configure 2-Step Verification (2SV)


1.1 Activation Steps

  1. Access 2SV: After the activation, the 2-Step Verification add-on is available in the Infraspeak Hub.
  2. Connect 2SV:  An administrator should connect the 2-Step Verification add-on in the Infraspeak

  1. In the Security and compliance section, find the "2-Step Verification" settings screen:

1.2 Configuration Options


After enabling 2SV, the administrator can choose the proper security configuration:


  1. Optional 2SV: The administrator only needs to enable the 2-Step Verification, so the users have the verification methods available to configure in the user settings page.
  2. Mandatory for Specific User Profiles: The administrator needs to toggle on in the correspondent user profiles to make it mandatory.
  3. Mandatory for Entire Organization: The administrator must toggle on all the user profiles.



Important note: Currently, the Technician and Next apps do not support 2-Step Verification. If 2SV is mandatory for technicians, they will be blocked from accessing Infraspeak after logging in with their username and password. This feature is expected to be available by the end of the year. Customers can request prioritization for this feature.

Note:

  • An administrator must configure the 2SV verification methods in the user settings or use the Gear suggestion to open the screen directly.
  • 2-Step Verification is not available for contacts and is not supported in Infraspeak Direct
  • After activating the 2SV and making it mandatory, user sessions are automatically revoked after 24 hours if they have not logged out before then.


2. How to Enable 2-Step Verification for My User Account


Users can enable and manage 2-Step Verification methods on the user settings page.


2.1 Enable Text Message Validation

  1. Click "Enable" next to the “Text Message Validation” option.

  1. Enter the phone number in the field that will appear on the screen.
  2. Click "Add number" to move to the verification step. 
  3. The text message will be sent in the following format.
  4. Enter the code received via text message in the verification code textbox.
  5. Click "Verify and enable”


2.2 Enable Authentication App Validation


  1. After the user clicks on "Enable" authentication app an activation a confirmation step will appear on the following screen. Install an authentication app:
    1. Google Authenticator
    2. Microsoft Authenticator
    3. Another app that supports 2FA/MFA authentication with QR code scanning
  2. Scan the provided QR code with your authentication app.
  3. Enter the code generated by the app in the verification field.
  4. Click "Verify and enable."
  5. After activating the verification method, the user can see which verification methods are enabled on the user settings screen.


2.3 Enable 2SV after the user Logged in with Username and Password (Mandatory activation)


For profiles where 2SV is mandatory, users will be prompted to configure at least one verification method after logging in with their username and password.


  1. Select the preferred verification method from the prompt screen.
  2. Follow the verification process similar to the one described above.
  3. After verification, access to the home page will be granted.
  4. After the verification code check, the user has access to the home page.
